The Struggle for Irob Rights

Advocating for Justice and Peace in Irob and the rest of the region affected by war.

Join us in our mission to protect the Irob indigenous minority from ongoing atrocities and human rights violations.

About Us

Irob Anina is a women-led organisation that works to protect the rights of minority marginalised women, particularly the Irob minority in Tigray. We do this by supporting the establishment of new grassroots organisations, directly engaging in advocacy at the domestic and international levels, and documenting and investigating state-perpetrated crimes.

Over the past two years, we have supported the establishment of four grassroots victim groups, all women-led or primarily composed of women, to drive victim-led justice and peace initiatives. Our work focuses on building their capacity to advocate for justice, document conflict-related sexual violence (CRSV) cases, and engage with key stakeholders. With deep community ties, we provide ongoing support in organizational management, advocacy, and survivor-centered justice strategies. Through consultations, training, and the use of a stigma toolkit, we strengthen survivors’ voices while facilitating referral pathways for CRSV survivors.

Our Mission

Irob Anina Civil Society is dedicated to defending the rights of the Irob indigenous minority in Tigray, Ethiopia. Our organization tirelessly works to bring international attention to the severe human rights violations faced by the Irob people, including killings, forced disappearances, and the occupation of their lands.

We advocate for global intervention and provide essential support to survivors through psychological and material assistance. Our goal is to ensure peace, justice, and the full resolution of the issues affecting the Irob community.
