Impact of the Genocidal War

Today, the Irob, with a population of no more than 40,000, face an existential threat.   As we fight for the survival of the Irob, we fight for our Anina, meaning our existence in our native tongue, Saho.      The Irob, as Tigrayans were attacked as part of the Ethiopia’s, Eritrea’s, and Amhara’s genocidal campaigns, being victims of a complete siege, massacres, extrajudicial killings, systematic and widespread conflict-related sexual violence, and wholesale destruction and plundering of their lands, public infrastructure, and private property.

Hundreds of Irob individuals have lost their lives due to the ongoing conflict. Eritrean troops at the invitation of the Ethiopian federal government evaded Irob and still to this day, continues to terrorise and take the lives of civilians.
